Workshops

WORKSHOP HOSTING

Communities in Bloom Ontario hosts a series of community workshops each year. We invite you to contact us if are interested in hosting an event. The selection of the Host Community is based upon several criteria, including geographical area and the number of individuals interested in attending the proposed workshop.

Hosting a workshop increases awareness of the Communities in Bloom program within your community, which may attract new program volunteers. It provides the Host Community with an ideal networking opportunity. Workshops may include a social the evening prior to the full day instruction.
Workshops are held all across Ontario.

Communities in Bloom will manage the registration process and the organization of the workshop material and presentations. We ask the Host Community to provide a donated meeting space suitable for a capacity of 25 to 50 people, to provide refreshments and a simple lunch for the workshop attendees.

Some of the topics that have been discussed at past workshops are:

  • The Eight Criteria of the CIB program.
  • Preparation of the Community Profile Book.
  • Preparation of the Judges’ Itinerary.
  • Available grant opportunities.

Invites to targeted groups and the general public will be forwarded thanks to our partners: EDCO (Economic Developers Council of Ontario), AMO (Association of Municipalities of Ontario), OSUM (Ontario Small Urban Municipalities), OBIAA (Ontario BIA Association), OHA (Ontario Horticultural Association), OALA (Ontario Association of Landscape Architects), OPA (Ontario Parks Association), Landscape Ontario and their associates.

If your community is interested in hosting a workshop, please contact us at 1-877-640-4005 for more details.
